Fighting aliens who look like the "cutest stuffed animals in the world" are three primary school girls!
"Ground Defense Force, Mao Onigawara! I will be the Defender of Peace in Japan!" This is an animation by Ken Akamatsu, the creator of "Love Hina"! "Love Hina" was a mega hit series that sold a total of 10 million copies in Japan. The director for this series is Yoshiaki Iwasaki, also familiar to us from the TV animation and OVA (Original Video Animation, series specially created for videos) of "Love Hina". In the year 200X, aliens come to Japan from outer space. They come to the tourist spots and steal famous buildings and structures in Japan. Japan's Ground Defense Force fights the intruders from space but they have a problem. These aliens look like giant stuffed animals. And they never kill anyone. "How can you attack such cute stuffed animals?" The public opinion is on the side of the aliens. People criticize the Defense Force, which is trying to defend Japan. So the Defense Force decides to choose three girls to protect Japan from the mysterious enemies. Mao Onigawara, Misora Tsukishima and Sylvia Maruyama all acquired special powers when they were little. Normally they attend their primary school but when orders come from the Defense Force, they go fight the stuffed animal aliens. They need to "transform" themselves when they fight their enemies but that takes a big national budget. If they do not get the support of the Cabinet, the three cannot transform themselves. Luckily the prime minister and the public are so impressed with their courageous fighting that they decide to give them the budget. So now they can transform themselves! The three of them together activate the mysterious defense shield and successfully lock out the aliens. It is a heartwarming animation that depicts the three cute little girls trying to defend Japan from aliens. |
